Juliana & Jeff, San Francisco Engagement Session

Even though Juliana and Jeff currently live in Boston, these two love birds fell in love over many rounds of golf while living in San Francisco.  How fitting to have them fly cross country to capture their engagement session, to document how it all started.  We spent an afternoon together over Fleet Weekend, on a beautiful sunny day with fighter jets flying by.  The couple frolicked on the green at Presidio Golf Course, practiced a mini round of putting/swinging all while I captured their form.  We then headed to a small hidden beach with gorgeous views of the Golden Gate Bridge to have an iconic San Francisco backdrop  for the glam portion of the engagement shoot.  Not only is Juliana drop dead gorgeous, she chose a stunning dress that made her even more irresistible.  You can see her fiance agrees based on his glowing smile.  These two individuals know how to have fun and our session together was filled with crack up moments and jokes.  I can’t wait to see what their wedding has in store for them next summer!

Jodie & Blair, Hakone Garden Wedding

This year, I’ve been blessed with meeting sweet and loving clients like Jodie and Blair.  The images of their beautiful Hakone Garden wedding don’t do justice to their character as individuals or their love for each other.  Jodie’s positive energy was contageous and I love how it radiated throughout the entire wedding day for vendors and guests alike.   Despite the warm temperatures and a few dress snafoos, Jodie kept up her spirits and never let anything get in the way of dampering her smile.  The couple chose to do a first look at Saratoga Inn where we were able to capture getting ready shots.  Doing this allowed for the couple to have plenty of time for their portrait session at their beautiful venue.  We took full advantage of the property and photographed around the bridge, zen garden, house, and even got family portraits done before the ceremony!

Looking radiant and smiling takes stamina so if you’re planning your wedding, I highly encourage scheduling a first look before the ceremony when you’ll look fresh and feel your best.  Brides, especially on warmer days, should take advantage of taking photos while your hair and makeup are in tact, not after you’ve started to reapply lipstick and blotting your face.   You’re also allowing your photographer to take plenty of photos of the couple and even get family portraits done sooner so you can enjoy cocktail hour and mingle with the guests.  You’ve worked so hard at planning your wedding, it’s nice to enjoy some cocktails at your own party!  It’s a win win for everyone!

Baby Olivia, Palo Alto Family Portraits

Time sure flies.  Just one year ago, I photographed little Olivia as a newborn (see her photoshoot here) and now, this little family of three is about to move back to Switzerland and they will be surely missed!  In the past year, I’ve developed a friendship with this family and it’s bitter sweet to see say goodbye.  Thanks to social media, this world is so much closer and I know they’ll only be a phone call, email, text or facetime away.  Au Revoir!

Baby Josephine, Santa Clara Family Portraits Part IV

If you’ve been following my blog all year, you’ll probably recognize cutie pie, Baby Josephine.  I had the privilege of being welcomed into the Wu’s home for the past year to document their first born’s first year in 3 months intervals.  It was a year long diary of capturing Baby J’s different developmental stages from tummy time, crawling to eventually walking.  This final shoot celebrates Baby J’s one year and it’s incredible how much she’s changed from her very first photoshoot here.  This most recent and final shoot, you’ll see a huge difference.  From walking, to duck lips, sunshine smiles, peekaboo and fascination with mommy’s necklace, Baby Josephine is full of personality and happy smiles!  To view the year long chronicle, check out Part I, Part II and Part III.

 

Wendy & Dominic, Palm Event Center Wedding

Wendy and Dominic held their wedding on a weekday and it felt so unique to shoot an event on a Thursday.  It was a hot August day in Pleasanton so the couple had an quick ceremony and reception in a cool and indoor setting at Palm Event Center.  We started the day with a first look in downtown Pleasanton, near the Firehouse Arts Center.  The day reached almost 100 degrees in temperature and to endure the outdoor heat, the groom and groomsmen’s took off their suit jackets.  Not only was this look more appropriate for a winery setting, it also saved the wedding party from dealing with severe heat.  The gentlemen looked very classy cool and I’m so pleased with how the outcome turned out!  Wendy’s beautiful Monique Llhuillier gown stole the show and her look was a stunner.  The bridesmaid’s hot pink dress was a great pop of color that felt bright and festive.  Take a look at how it all visually came together~
