When I first met Victoria and Xavier, I remember how important it was for the wedding to be fresh and vibrant. Casual yet sophisticated. Charming but not too vintage or whimscial. Highly individual with attention to the fine details. Xavier wanted it to reflect that they were having a summer wedding. Victoria is a warm person, always cheerful with such a sunny disposition so we landed on bright summery yellows with spring green and blue accents. Ultimately —- the most important thing was that their guests felt relaxed and at ease.
The venue they choose was the iconic Rosewood Sand Hill right in the middle of the Silicon Valley with views of the Santa Cruz Mountains. It’s Contemporary California architecture featuring beautifully landscaped floral gardens, contemporary art, and high ceilings with grand windows that let in the sun perfectly melded with Victoria and Xavier’s modern, stylish and relaxed aesthetic.
The ceremony started on one of its landscaped gardens where olive trees lined the edges. White and bright yellows were used to make the space rather understated and crisp. Victoria walked down the aisle in a lovely and feminine strapless wedding gown with floral petal appliques. She carried a bouquet of white and yellow flowers that featured garden roses, dahlias, billy balls, and lisianthus with long aquamarine ribbon streamers. Both wore something blue!
As guests transitioned from the ceremony, they were brought to an intimate Terrace where an al fresco reception was set up. Under a covered terrace, we designed the dinner to focus on one long table so that the two dozen guests could feel like they were part of a big family dinner. We choose this modern pattern linen with a pale aqua hue to contrast with the bright yellow Oncidium orchids, mini callas, green moss ball dianthus, scabiosa pods, and twisted grapewood. White modern shaped vases had simple textural flowers while bright green ceramic vases had mixed color flowers all done simply. Aqua votives finished the table. Over the table hung dozens of clear glass bubbles with votives so as the sun set, there would be tiny little flicker of lights.
Our bride, Victoria created her own invitation after searching for months but not finding exactly what she wanted. Her invitation suite featured aqua hues with bright yellow accents with swirling of circular patterns. All the place cards were hand written by our bride for a nice added touch. Guests dined on a menu specially selected by the couple with wine pairings to match. In the evening, guests were invited indoors for dancing and a dessert buffet. At the end of the night, homemade jams by the couple were sent home with all the guests.
