What does a couple married for 5 years look like? Like newlyweds! Carolyn and Jon were married five years ago, but due to their long distance relationship, they didn’t have time for an engagement portrait session before their wedding day. So 5 years later, on their actual anniversary day, Jon and Carolyn spent an afternoon with yours truly, posing and smiling as part of their celebration. What a great idea to commemorate your milestone with a anniversary portrait session, followed by a romantic dinner date in the city. Love!

How excited I was when I walked into the S family home and saw a huge yellow wall, the color for my branding!! I just had to take advantage of the clean negative space to really highlight and focus on my subject. It was a special bonus to have the family dogs participate in the photoshoot. Happy weekend~

Monica & Ryan, San Francisco City Hall Wedding

Monica and Ryan are my first destination clients who live in LA but decided to have an intimate wedding at San Francisco City Hall. As with most of my City Hall weddings, my job is to not only to be the photographer, but also be the witness to this intimate affair. This is an incredible honor, especially when you get to sign the marriage certificate and I’m thankful for the trust that clients place for me to be a part of their day. For Monica and Ryan, the couple decided to do a first look to add a special element of surprise, followed by registration for their marriage license and the wedding ceremony to seal the deal! We then spent the afternoon photographing all over San Francisco! Congratulations to the beautiful couple!

Lin Family, San Francisco Family Portraits

San Francisco weather could turn from sunny to foggy in 2.5 seconds, but luckily, my clients were graced with a beautiful sunny afternoon for the entirety of their portrait session. They chose the Palace of Fine Arts as the backdrop for the session and this time of the year, there were cherry blossoms in full bloom. What a treat! For the Lin Family, this was their first time taking professional photos so I was very happy to be the one to introduce them to a lifestyle photoshoot experience. As you can see from the images, I tried to capture their family’s individuality and personality. For this reason, not every photoshoot will produce the same images, but I can guarantee that every photoshoot will capture YOU as you are!

Rent the Runway, Editorial Photoshoot

I first discovered Rent the Runway (RTR) in 2011 when I was invited to attend a black tie wedding in NYC. I needed a long gown asap and didn’t have the time to shop for a long gown. Not only did RTR save me time and money, I was also able to rent a stunning Moschino dress that made me feel like a million bucks. I ordered 24 hours before the wedding and had the dresses delivered same day to my hotel via courier service (courier for NYC only). The service and selection was awesome and I can guarantee, I’ll definitely be renting again for future formal weddings I attend. So when creative stylist, Elaine Wu of Falosophie, approached me for a collaboration shoot featuring Rent the Runway dresses, I immediately jumped at the opportunity! Ladies, RTR is such a gem. Jennie & Andrew, Sausalito Engagement Shoot

Spring showers have been non-stop in March but for this couple, the skies cleared up for 2 glorious sunny hours. We worked quickly, including an outfit change to capture Jennie and Andrew in a location very special to them, Sausalito. We retraced the steps of their engagement day and captured some pretty sweet moments of the couple. Their wedding will be a fun one for me since I’ll be seeing my friends and former clients in the bridal party! Congratulations to the couple and I can’t wait to capture their BIG day in June!!

Workshop, How to Style a Stunning Engagement Shoot

When I quit my job to be a full time photographer, never did I imagine I’d be actually teaching a workshop. Recently, I had the privilege of partnering with industry professionals to host a workshop geared towards brides, to give them tips on how to style and prep for their engagement shoot. Much to our surprise, there were wedding industry vendors who signed up as well. We even had two attendees Skype from Hawaii for our workshop!

To give you some background, Blu Bungalow and Lovely Little Details teamed up to organize and host a series of workshops called, “Save the Date”, offering topics for brides and grooms to help them plan for their big day. To see a full list of topics and dates, check out the calendar here.

For this particular workshop, we focused on providing tips on how to style magazine/blog worthy engagement shoots. Experts in the industry, whose work has been published in The Knot, Style Me Pretty, Green Wedding Shoes, weighed in on their tips and advice. Yelena from The Stylish Soiree shared her expertise from a planner and designer’s point of view, Amanda from One True Love Vintage Rentals shared her perspective on how to jazz up a photoshoot incorporating personal vintage props. Finally, I contributed the photographer’s perspective on how to look your best in front of the camera. From outfit choices, props to posing and blogging tips, this workshop covered everything one needs to create a stunning engagement photoshoot!
